Wai'ao Jietian Temple

Wai'ao Jietian Temple, officially known as "Wudang Ancestral Temple Taiwan's First Palace. Jietian Temple traces its origins back to 1822 (the 2nd year of the Daoguang reign in the Qing Dynasty), when a devotee named Huang Ying brought a golden statue of Xuantian Shangdi from mainland China to Taiwan. Initially, a small thatched temple was built on Shikong Mountain in Wai'ao for worship.

As the number of believers grew, the residents pooled resources to build a larger temple called Jietian Temple. After 1945, due to changes in society, many mountain residents relocated to the plains. In 1973, the temple was rebuilt at its current location and renamed Jietian Temple.

The temple is dedicated to Xuantien Shangdi, It is an important religious site in the local community.
